Agartala, Four fresh Covid deaths including two BSF jawans in last 24-hrs have taken the death toll to 41 in Tripura. In Tripura more than 700 BSF personnel have already been infected with Covid-19 so far but these were the first death cases reported in the force here.The first death was of a 52-year-old from 133 Bn, who was posted in Lal Tilla border outpost in West Tripura and was ill since July 28 last. The official was taken to a local PHC, where his sample was tested positive. He was shifted to a Covid care centre (CCC) on the same day. He was referred to Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC).Report claimed the jawan who hailed from Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh, was put under ventilation since Friday and succumbed to the virus on Saturday. The deceased had returned from leave on May 30 and was placed under quarantine at 133 Bn headquarters in Nalkata”, the official added.The second death was of a 51-year-old who was posted in 80 Bn BSF in Teliamura under Khowai district. The patient was taken at a private hospital on Saturday where his sample was tested through a rapid antigen test kit and later shifted to AGMC and died at night.According to report, one among them was suffering from comorbidity conditions including kidney problems, while the other was a nursing assistant. They might have got exposed while attending their duties. Two more death was also reported in the state in last 24 hrs that included a 40-yrs old woman of Masterpara of the city and a
45-yrs old businessman of Teliamura. While the lady died in the hospital, the man expired on the way to the hospital. The total Covid positive cases rose to 6,164 in Tripura with active cases of 1,988 after fresh patients of 147.Meanwhile, former MLA and Congress leader Gopal Chandra Roy demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of Tripura High Court over the alleged malfunctioning of ventilation in Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC) that according to him, disrupted central oxygen supply system and caused the death of 34 people in 12 days.Roy accusing BJP government here of failing in tackling the Covid 19 situations in Tripura claimed that if someone died due to lack of oxygen, the government must be held responsible and added that the central oxygen supply system of NTH building of the hospital, now converted into dedicated Covid hospital has been malfunctioning since the month of February but nobody care for it’s rectification.
