Nagpur : Following two days of heavy rains and release of excess water from various dams posed flood-like situation in many districts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra on Sunday. The water level in most of the rivers, lakes, ponds and other water bodies was full to brim. The flood water also gushed into fields causing damage to crops.
As per District collector Ravindra Thakare, as many as 25 villages were affected due to floods so far. Four teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were airlifted from Pune and destined to Nagpur in view of the evolving flood situation in the districts of Vidarbha division of Maharashtra, sources said. The teams would be deployed in Nagpur and Chandrapur district tentatively, sources further said. These four teams were in addition to the one team already deployed for flood rescue operations in Nagpur district,
