Paris: India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Croatian partner Franko Skugor have entered the men’s doubles quarter-finals of the French Open after receiving a walkover from their opponents, here.
The 41-year-old Bopanna and Skugor got a walkover in their third round match against the Netherlands’ Matwe Middelkoop and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador on Sunday.
The Indo-Croat duo will now face the Spanish pairing of Pablo Andujar and Pedro Martinez in the quarter-finals.
They had earlier beaten Nikoloz Basilashvili and Andre Begemann in the first round before overcoming the pair of Nicholas Monroe-Frances Tiafoe in the second.
Notably, Rohan Bopanna is the only Indian in contention in this year’s Roland Garros.
Divij Sharan and Ankita Raina bowed out of the Grand Slam after their first-round losses in men’s and women’s doubles, respectively.
Meanwhile, men’s singles player Sumit Nagal failed to get past the qualifiers.
