India reports single-day spike of over 60k cases for second day in row

New Delhi, India, for the second consecutive day on Saturday, reported over 60,000 cases of novel coronavirus during the past 24 hours while 933 people lost their lives in the same period. With 61,537 new cases in a day, the tally has now risen to 20,88,612. The death toll mounted to 42,518. Currently, 6,19,088 cases are active pan India, while more than double — 14,27,005 — have recovered from the disease. The active cases witnessed a surge of 11,704 cases. Meanwhile, as many as 48,900 patients were cured in the past 24-hrs. The country conducted a total number of 5,98,778 tests during the previous day, which takes the cumulative total of tested till August 7 to 2,33,87,171.
