Puducherry, Former Lok Sabha member from Puducherry Prof M Ramadass on Monday maintained that the lockdown which Chief Minister V Narayanasamy advocates now is a temporary blunt tool to cure the Coronavirus internally.In a statement here, Prof Ramadass said testing the entire population, though little laborious and burdensome, is a necessary and sufficient condition for freeing the territory from the clutches of this pandemic within the next one month.
He said setting up 8 testing centres at Puducherry and one centre each at the remaining regions can facilitate large scale testing suggested. Qualified and trained technicians and testing kits should be readily made available. Strengthening of the recognised Covid Hospitals with modern infrastructure, improving the hygienic conditions there, provision of quality food to the patients, incentivising the doctors, nurses and sanitary workers, introduction of COVID Home care system to take care of home quarantined patients, E Sanjeevi plan to seek medical advice from Doctors, the Siddha system and the setting up of Plasma Bank and enhancing health outlay by another 100 crore can help the successful containment of Covid-19 in Puducherry.The Government should realise that our response should be specific to local needs and determined by science and strategy and supervised by experts, he added.
