Aurangabad/Mumbai: The Maharashtra state government has issued a restraining order against the backdrop of a possible third wave of COVID-19.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Stare Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte on Friday night night in view of the possible third wave in the state due to the Delta and Delta Plus variants of COVID-19, a statement said here.
Restrictions have been imposed in the state by various orders from time to time, to break the chain of Covid-19, using the powers provided under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
As the threat of COVID-19 persists in Maharashtra and as per the order dated June 4, 2021, new variants of Covid such as Delta, Delta Plus are being spread and soon (4 to 6 weeks) there is a strong possibility of a third wave of Covid spreading over a large area, the statement further said.
Also, as suggested by INSACOG (a team of laboratories set up for complete genome sequencing in the context of COVID-19), the Delta Plus variant is a Variant of Concern (VOC) due to the following features.
