New Delhi, A veterinary graduate was arrested for allegedly making fake social media profile in the name of an IPS officer and cheating people via it, Delhi Police said on Sunday.The investigation was initiated on complaint of an IPS officer and the man behind the racket was traced to Madhya Pradesh’s Satna.The accused identified as Munnalal Mavasi at Barua used to access the fake Facebook profile in the name of the officer and allegedly demanded money from his friends and family through the same.The accused has disclosed about a racket wherein in others were also involved in this practice of making Fake FB profiles and then dupe innocent people.The police have also recovered cell phones that were used by the accused to access the profiles.He was traced by a team of Police Station Lodhi Colony through technical surveillance and finally, the team reached MP and arrested the accused.During questioning it was revealed that the accused was a graduate in Arts and a diploma holder in Veterinary and used to work as a Vet in a village prior to joining a marketing firm.Later in view of making more money, he along with another associate started cheating people through fake Facebook profiles by asking form money from the person’s friends and family on pretext of emergency.A case has been registered under appropriate sections and further probe was underway, the police added.
