Melody Queen ‘faced’ tune of the music with Rafi, Jaikishan

New Delhi: “Unparalleled” Lata Mangeshkar, who turned 91 on Monday, -still tracing music, -had also ‘faced’ it during her long career.The ‘revelation’ is recorded in a fascinating book-‘Lata Mangeshkar….In Her Own Voice,’ written by Nasreen Munni Kabir.In this book, the ‘Nightingle’ reveals so many interesting stories to tell about her career, movies and from her own life.In one of such ‘revelations,’ the nonagenarian singer acknowledged that she had a ‘fight’ with another legendary figure-Mohammad Rafi-in the 60s before a similar ‘quarrel’ with music composer Jaikishan of the famous Shankar-Jaikishan duo during the 1957 Filmfare award.The revered singer informed in the book that her argument with Rafi Sahab was over royalties.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and number of other distinguished personalities on September 28 had wished ‘Long Life’ of the ‘Melody Queen’ who enthralled music lovers for decades.Ms Mangeshkar, however, had cancelled her b’day celebrations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
