Everywhere money matters. According to Koutilya, the age-old economist cum adviser to the king Chandragupta; a moneyed man even if a fool; people will not hesitate to greet him as a knowledgeable institution. Before two decades or more than that, a rightist leader of un-divided Madhya Pradesh told in one occasion categorically, “money is not God, but in any way never less than God”. To add this, in English there is a couplet, “Money, Money, Money, brighter than Sun shine, sweeter than Honey”. If we look at Odisha, our own state where the Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik broke the records of all CM’s having wide popularity over the common mass & especially female voters is now a veteran politician, only because when the state economy was shrinking & he could able to give it a new shape In his time. Capital Bhubaneswar is growing & at the same time all districts headquarters are not far behind too. But now again question comes, will money matters & will state suffer again? After pandemic corona state’s all economic activity came to a halt. Even in the financial year of 2020-21, within first three month the collection of revenue is reduced by 58% than 2019-20 financial year’s first quarter. Investment of capital in the state is lacking behind. Again, yet from the centre Odisha will have to get one Thousand crore towards compensation of GST loss. When our present budget is of one & half lakh crores, 25 thousand crores loan will be incurred with. As far as corona is there, state economy will not improve. So, expenses are to be curtailed of & many other steps will be taken. Otherwise the history may repeat.
