Bhubaneswar: Five more Odisha MLAs, whose swab samples were collected at the Assembly premises in view of the Monsoon Session that began today, have tested positive for COVID-19. Samples of total 25 MLAs were taken yesterday, out of which five came out positive. The five infected MLAs are- Jayanta Sarangi (Puri), Angada Kanhar (Phulbani), Saroj Meher (Patnagarh), Bikram Panda (Berhampur)and Bhudan Murmu ( Saraskana). MLAs Bikram Panda and Saroj Meher have contracted the virus for the second time. During the testing conducted at the Assembly premises in the last three days, total 19 MLAs have tested positive for the deadly virus. The 51 COVID-19 infected MLAs, include Susant Rout (Bhubaneswar-north), Ananta Narayan Jena (Bhubaneswar-central), Bikram Panda (Berhampur), Byomakesh Ray (Chandbali), Soumya Ranjan Patnaik (Khandapada), Pradeep Maharathy (Pipili), Shankar Oram (Biramitrapur), Aditya Madhi (Malkangiri), Women and Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu, Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo and Labour Minister Susanta Singh. Besides, three MPs have also been infected by the virus. They are Suresh Pujari (Bargarh), Manjulata Mandal (Bhadrak) and Ramesh Majhi (Nabarangpur).
