The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) has been formed under National Medical Commission Act for only a common and uniform undergraduate medical entrance test which has been managed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established NTA as an independent, efficient, transparent body of international standard. As an autonomous and premier testing organization it holds NEET for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions. This year 7,71,500 boys and girls qualified the test whereas Odisha’s Shoyeb Aftab is topper scoring 100% mark. Within top 50, UP, Maharasthra, Andhra and Telengana are there. The list of qualified candidates shows; more OBC students excelled whereas the figure of Transgender implies horrible situation of them in the country as one only could able to qualify. The condition of SC and ST are no doubt improving but Scheduled Tribe is still one step back and the cause is to be ascertained. Excluding this a studious girl got Zero for which she filed a case in Bombay High Court, a matter which should be examined thoroughly as it deals with the career of a young girl. One more thing to add, the result shows boys are not far away from girls; which is very encouraging. Besides those, NTA should give utmost importance in case of marks tabulation which can make or mar the career of an young aspirant to be a doctor of international standard.
