Kolkata, Nomada, the handmade fashion accessories brand created by Sana Shakoor and Divya Batra Rashul, has partnered with Verrocchios, a global creative production company, specialising in fashion & lifestyle brands, for the launch of their “Resort” collection. The brand Nomada is inspired by travel, culture, and nature. The term ‘Nomada’ is derived from the Spanish word for ‘Nomad’ which means a person who loves to wander from one place to another. This is what the brand imbibes as a philosophy.Speaking about the newest Nomada collection launch, Co-founder, Divya Batra Rashul, said. “Our newest collection is inspired by the Aztecs and their sense of aesthetics, the colors and geography of their landscape. We have used motifs such as palm trees, the sun, etc, and interpreted them in an Aztec design aesthetic. All our bags fall under the “Resort” category for fashion. It simply means that they are year-round buys, you can use them anywhere in the world, and they are not bound by the fashion calendar, they are inter-season and pre-season. Typically resort wear is a holiday or travel collection which fits in well with our brand philosophy.”She further added, “We decided to partner with Verrocchios on this as we have always clicked from day one. They understand who we are as a brand and always work with us to get better each season. Beyond that, we have a wonderful rapport and the work and ideation are always effortless and seamless. They’re extremely talented and what sets us apart from other brands in India is the international look and feel, the creativity they bring each season, they’re always pushing us to think out of the box and do something different, but that still works with who we are.,” Rafi Mohamed, co-founder of Verrocchios said, “The shoot had to be shot under covid condition, which meant, no outdoor shoot. We had to recreate the set indoor, which was quite a task. We went around the city looking for tall dry grass. Also, as a company we are very nature conscious so, it was important to us that we only cut grass which had naturally dried up. Also, this process ensures the natural look of the grass” “The new collections of bags are handmade, crafted by Indian artisans. Materials used are made in India and non-animal products such as leather etc are avoided. The brand aims to be as sustainable as possible, and have used jute/silk as a base material for the bags collection. Fabrics like jute silk are used as the base for most of the bags, leatherette (fake leather), beadwork, and raffia embroidery.”Jeff Immanuel, co-founder of, Verrocchios said, “Fashion to us is spelled Pashion as there is a lot of passion in fashion. So here we are, together, trying to create something unique for Nomada. The shoot was a juxtaposition of sorts because when one imagines a resort collection, the next imagery will be a beach or a hill station. We must say it was an exciting opportunity to work on the ‘Resort’ collection of Nomada and I thank Divya for that.”
