Odisha Assembly adjourned over police attack on Rahul and Priyanka

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly today witnessed uproarious scenes over the alleged attack on former AICC president Rahul Gandhi and present AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra while they were on way to Hathras in Uttarpradesh to meet the family members of the girl who was allegedly gang raped and died.The girl was allegedly assaulted and gang raped in a field near her house on September 14 last and died in a hospital in Delhi on Tuesday last. Her body was cremated in a haste.Raising the issue during Zero hour, the Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra said Mr Gandhi and his sister were detained, beaten and arrested by the  UP Police and did not allow them to visit Hathras to meet the family members of the victim. Soon after Mr Mishra finished his statement, the Congress members rushed to the well , shouted slogans and did not allow the house to function. They shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath. As the house plunged into a chaos, Speaker S N Patro adjourned the house thrice and finally for lunch till1500 hours.As the impasse continued, the Speaker convened an all party meeting in a bid to bring normalcy to the house and adjourned the house till 1130hours.The Speaker then adjourned the house till 1500hours as the all party meeting failed to resolve the issue.
