Odisha CM Grieves Dharampal Gulati’s Demise; Describes Him As Shining Beacon Of India’s Entrepreneurial Journey
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed his deep grief over the demise of Dharampal Gulati, owner of the iconic spice brand MDH.
Paying tribute to the departed soul, Patnaik said Gulati Ji was a shining beacon of India’s entrepreneurial journey who turned MDH Spices into an iconic brand. He will always be remembered for his philanthropic work, the CM tweeted.
Dharampal Gulati died while undergoing treatment at Delhi’s Mata Chanan Devi Hospital.
Born in Pakistan in 1923, he joined his father’s spice business in Sialkot in the neighbouring country. He moved to India after partition and opened a shop in Delhi’s Karol Bagh. From a shop in Karol Bagh, Dharampal Gulati built MDH as one of India’s leading spices brands. He received the Padma Bhushan award from President Ram Nath Kovind in 2019.
