Bhubaneswar: Covid tally in Odisha today surged to 9,16,109 with the detection of 3222 fresh cases from 30 districts in the past 24 hours, Health and Welfare department sources said.
The 3222 new cases included 1838 from the quarantine centres and 1384 as local contact cases. Cuttack district recorded the highest number of 619 infections followed by Khordha (422), Jagatsinghpur ( 212) and Balasore(208). Each of the other 26 districts in the state reported less than 200 cases during the period.
Official sources said 46 more covid patients from 19 districts succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the total fatalities in the state to 4109.
So far seven districts have reported fatalities less than 50 while in nine districts the death toll varies from 50 to 100 and 14 districts have registered a covid toll of more than 100.
The covid has so far claimed the highest number of 865 deaths in Khordha district whereas Deogarh in Western Odisha has the lowest fatalities of 32 only.
Out of 46 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, Khordha district registered the highest number of nine deaths followed by four deaths each in Nayagarh, Puri and Sundargarh district. While three deaths each were reported from five districts, one each died in ten other districts.
Three districts- Khordha with 5206 active cases followed by Cuttack ( 4381)and Balasore (2943) are in Red Zone, Six districts have come under the Orange zone and 21 districts have been categorized as Green Zone.
Till date, eleven districts have Test Positivity Rate(TPR) between 5 per cent to 7.5 per cent while the rest 19 districts in the state have TPR less than 5 per cent.
