People engaged in rescue mission to undergo quarantine: Kerala Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja on Saturday urged volunteers and others who were engaged in the rescue mission at Calicut International Airport in Karipur after an Air India Express flight met with an accident on Friday night, to undergo quarantine as a precautionary measure against COVID as the area was already declared as a Containment Zone.People in large numbers rushed to the accident spot and engaged in the rescue operation last night as the COVID protocol was not able to follow in such a crucial situation following the crash landing of the flight, the Minister said in a  release here. The Health Department was waiting for the COVID test results of passengers who came in the flight from Dubai as part of the Vande Bharat Mission. The test of other deceased was also progressing as the  result of one passenger came out positive.Those who involved in rescue mission must contact the health department through helpline numbers (Disha – 1056, 0471 2552056, 0483 2733251, 2733252, 2733253, 0495 2376063, 2371471, 2373901) and handover their details, the Minister added.
