New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated Mamata Banerjee on taking oath as West Bengal’s Chief Minister.
”Congratulations to Mamata Didi on taking oath as West Bengal’s Chief Minister,” the PM tweeted.
Ms Banerjee, the All India Trinamool Congress chief, was sworn in as the chief minister for the third consecutive term this morning after she led her party to a sweeping victory with 213 seats in the 294 seats Assembly polls.
Governor Jagdeep Dhankar administered the oath of office and secrecy at a simple function under the Covid situation.
In 2011, the 66-year-old TMC supremo had taken over as the chief minister after defeating the then Left Front government being headed by CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
She again took the office of the chief minister in 2016 when she bagged 211 seats.
