Srinagar: President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Kargil in the Union Territory of Ladakh to pay homage to the Indian armed forces in Drass on the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Divas on Monday has been cancelled due to bad weather, official sources said.
Kovind, who arrived here on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Sunday, was scheduled to travel to Kargil on Monday today to pay homage at Kargil War Memorial built in the memory of soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 war.
On this day Indian soldiers declared victory in recapturing all heights which were occupied by Pakistan intruders during the winter.
In 2019 also, the president could not travel to Kargil due to bad weather.
