Prez, V-P & PM wish people on Navroz

New Delhi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended their greetings on Parsi New Year, Navroz, to all Indians, particularly the Parsi community.”Navroz Mubarak! The contribution of the Parsi community in nation-building and development is a matter of inspiration and pride for all of us. May this festival of Parsi society based on the ideals of goodness in thoughts, words and deeds bring peace and prosperity to all,” President Kovind said in a tweet.Mr Naidu also wished the people on this occasion, saying that the community holds a special place in the cultural mosaic of the country. India’s Parsi community has made an invaluable contribution to nation building, he said in his message. The Parsi New Year, which marks the beginning of spring, is a celebration of renewal and rejuvenation, Naidu noted.”Celebrating Navroz in its true sense means imbibing good thoughts, doing good deeds, living truthfully and walking on the path of righteousness,” he said.As India and the world continue to fight a relentless battle against COVID-19, this year people have to be content with a modest celebration which is confined to homes, he said.”May this festival bring amity, prosperity and happiness in our lives,” the vice president said.In a tweet, the Prime Minister prayed that the coming year is filled with happiness and prosperity. “Navroz Mubarak! Greetings on Parsi New Year. India cherishes the outstanding contribution of the Parsi community, which has made a mark in a wide range of fields. May the coming year bring peace and prosperity in everyone’s lives,” PM Modi said in a tweet.The Parsi New Year which is also known as Navroz is celebrated to mark the beginning of the new Persian calendar. In the Persian language ‘Nav’ means new, and ‘Roz’ stands for the day.
