New Delhi, A day after Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal rejected the Delhi Government’s decision to open hotels in Unlock-3, Delhi Health Miniater Satyendar Jain on Saturday said it would have been better if permission was given to open Hotels. Talking to mediapersons here, the Delhi Health Minister said, ”Hotels are open in Uttar Pradesh, in Ghaziabad, Noida, Haryana, bordering Delhi. There cases are increasing and hotels are open.”
As COVID-19 cases are decreasing in the national capital, it would have been better if LG would have given the permission to open hotels, he said.
The Lieutenant Governor on Friday rejected the Delhi Government’s decision to open hotels and weekly bazaars in Unlock-3, keeping in mind the number of new Novel Coronavirus patients in the national capital.
According to official sources, ”More than a thousand cases of Coronavirus are still coming up in Delhi daily. The infection has reduced in Delhi, but it is not over. In view of this, the risk of opening hotels and weekly markets cannot be taken.” On Friday, 1195 new cases of corona were reported in Delhi and overall contagion tally of COVID-19 cases in the city has now reached 135598. Deaths across the national capital due to the pandemic till date have mounted to 3963, after 27 more people lost their lives due to the virus since Thursday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday had announced to open hotels and allow for weekly bazaars to function on a trial basis, under the Unlock 3 phase.
