SECOND DOSE NEEDS A REVIEW

When second phase of corona is at top, each Indian needs vaccination. All states are eager to vaccinate people at any cost. More ever in this process, Odisha started vaccination. Vaccine is available in all GOVT hospitals. Few private hospitals, according to health department’s additional chief secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, can vaccinate people with a little charge of rupees 100. Also he stressed upon 2nd dose for which process should be quickened. The statement of Mr Mohapatra is true where as many people after taking 1st dose still waiting for godot. When only at capital Bhubaneswar, covaxin is schedule to use; in other districts & cities it is covishield for the vaccination meant for the people. According to some report till now more than 70lakh people are waiting for the 2nd dose of covishield which they are yet to get. Even some senior citizens complained at Nilagiri that they have been deprived of the 2nd dose when medical is giving more importance to 1st dose. More ever due to long span of time period, 1st dose also is going to be invalid. Expressing resentment those senior citizens after comming from medical without 2nd dose for which the 1st dose also became invalid automatically, they protested the action of medical by giving “dharana” in the road itself. State GOVT also decided that the vaccine to be received from the centre will be used for 2nd dose. Mr Mohapatra also gave stress upon it. But it is a serious matter to be pondered with that in all medicals excluding capital people waiting for 2nd dose are being neglected by concerned medical authorities. So, this is high time for the state GOVT to review about the 2nd dose vaccination & how many people’s 1st dose has became invalid without getting 2nd dose. The CM, the Health minister & health additional chief secretary should take stock of the situation looking towards the gravity of the matter. Otherwise lakhs & lakhs people’s 1st ddose vaccine will be of no use.
