New Delhi: Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee passed away at a Kolkata hospital on Sunday,38 days after he tested positive for Covid-19.He was 85 and is survived by wife, son and a daughter.The actor was admitted to the hospital on October 6, and a day after he tested positive for the pandemic.Chatterjee, one of maestro Satyajit Ray’s most favourite actors, tested negative after a week on October 14, but he remained admitted because of health complications, especially Covid induced encephalopathy.A pall of gloom descended on the cultural fraternity of Bengal and the country hearing the demise of Chatterjee.
