Kolhapur, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) head Raju Shetty was reportedly manhandled by police here on Tuesday as a duel erupted between the cops and the agitators over burning the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.In a show of solidarity with the ongoing farmers’ protest in Delhi, Sanghatana has organized statewide demonstration to agitate against the new farm laws.Mr Shetty along with the party workers marched to the Collectorate to express angst over this agrarian legislation, which farmers demand to repeal fearing the scrapping of the MSP.Amidst the high-pitched sloganeering against the Centre, some agitators resorted to burning PM Modi’s effigy leading to police intervention.A scuffle ensued between the cops and the agitators as both of them tried to take away the effigy. In the ongoing commotion, Mr Shetty was caught by the scruff of his neck so as to separate him from the gathering.
This act of the police further angered the agitators who then started raising anti-police slogans and attempted to take hold of Mr Shetty.
