Chennai, Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision
to declare holiday on January 14 and 15, 2021 for Pongal festival.In a statement here, he said he was extremely happy about the historical announcement made by the Apex Court and wholeheartedly welcomed it.Mr Palaniswami also thanked the Apex Court on his own behalf and on behalf of all the Tamil people for this. This is the first time that the Supreme Court has declared a holiday for Pongal festival.Recalling that late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had consistently insisted for making Tamil as the official language in Court, he said his government, which has been following the path laid down by the late leader, has been continuously pressing this issue.
