Chennai, In a tragic incident, two people were killed and five others were rescued after a building collapsed in the Textile city of Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu late on Sunday night due to heavy rains.Reports received at the police headquarters here said two people were killed in the mishap that took place at the congested Chetti street in the city. The deceased were identified as Gopalswami (72) and Swetha (25). Police, Fire and rescue srvices personnel and the public rescued five people, who got trapped under the debris of the three-storyed building. Police sources said that searches were on to ascertain whether anyone was trapped in the rubble.According to reports, an 65-year-old woman was missing and was believed to have been trapped under the debris.Coimbatore District Collector K Rajamani and City Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan visited the spot and monitored the rescue operations.
