UP: Colleges see 15-20 per cent turn out in Saharanpur


Saharanpur, The students may not have liked the idea of opening degree colleges by the Uttar Pradesh government even as the coronavirus crisis continues to persist as 15-20 per cent students reached the colleges. Female students were more as compared to the male students. Dr Vakul Bansal, Principal of the Jain Degree College in Saharanpur on Tuesday said that only 15 per cent of the students reached the college on the first day on Monday. The students were seated in accordance with social distancing in the classes. They were given entry into the college only after thermal screening and sanitization. Munna Lal Girls Degree College Principal Dr Amita Agarwal said that the COVID-19 guidelines were fully followed in the college. The attendance of female students in her college was 60 per cent. Dr Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal of the Maharaj Degree College which has over 2,500 students, said that for the first time, a prescribed dress has been set for the students in the college. He said that non-students used to enter the college and disturb the atmosphere. Teaching has started in all the degree colleges in places like Deoband, Nangal, Nanauta, Behat, Rampur Maniharan, Gangauh, Nakud, Rankhandi, Bhayla and Simlana but the attendance was very low. However, many students were excited to go to college after eight months. They said that it feels very good that the colleges have opened. Now, studies will be better. The city also looked bright as the colleges opened after eight months in the district.
