Covid-19: UP go for serological survey

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh government was gearing up to conduct a serological survey in the state in order to contain Covid-19,as the tally of the state crossed 81K. The sources in the state health department on Saturday said that the survey was likely to start on August 5. Random samples will be collected to determine the presence of antibodies in the public. The state’s Health Department was buying one lakh kits to conduct the survey. The initial phase would include districts Agra, Meerut, where the caseload has been decreasing recently. The survey was expected to ascertain more specific details on the present status of immunity, being a reliable method used globally to measure the level of antibodies against a certain infection. It has already been conducted in states like many states including Delhi and Maharashtra. In Maharashtra, this sero survey has found that over 50 per cent of the people in certain areas have developed anti bodies even when they were not positive of Coronavirus and in Delhi it was around 23 per cent.
