UP on high alert for Independence Day


Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh police has sounded a high alert across the state in view of the 73rd Independence Day celebrations and threat perception by the anti-national forces.The state was already under a tight security during the Ram temple Bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya which has been extended till the Independence day.
Several fake calls and WhatsApp messages received by journalists and others targeting the government has made the state police more cautious.Senior police officials of the rank of additional director general (ADG) and inspector general (IG) will camp in sensitive districts with additional police personnel deployed at public places.In Lucknow, commandos have been deployed near the Vidhan Bhawan where CM Yogi Adityanath will unfurl the national Tricolour on Saturday morning.Officials in DGP headquarters said UP-Nepal border has been sealed and vigil has been stepped in districts bordering Nepal.ADG (Law and order) Prashant Kumar said here on Thursday that all district police chiefs have been asked to increase patrolling and checking in all sensitive areas under their jurisdiction. “Traffic restrictions have been implemented in the districts bordering Delhi and NCR and will continue till August 15 midnight,” he added.The district police chiefs have also been instructed by the DGP headquarters to conduct security drills and carry out checks at the bus stations, railway stations and district borders.ADG said instructions have also been given to district police chiefs and the two police commissioners on monitoring of social networking websites.
Besides special security would be in a place where Independence day function will be held in the state.
DGP headquarters has asked senior officials to continue camping in districts around Ayodhya.
The officials who were camping in the districts adjoining Ayodhya are ADG Ashutosh Pandey in Amethi, ADG Ashok Kumar in Gonda, ADG Ram Kumar in Bahraich, IG Vijay Bhushan in Barabanki, IG Vijay Prakash in Sultanpur, IG AK Rai in Basti, IG Piyush Mordia in Ambedkarnagar, DIG Chandra Prakash in Maharajganj, and DIG RK Bharadwaj in Siddharthnagar.
