Veteran Odia journalist Jimut Mangraj dies of a road accident

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, noted Odia journalist and columnist Jimuta Mangaraj died in a road mishap near Janla chhak in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar last night.

Sources said Mr Mangaraj was returning from Khordha to Bhubaneswar on his scooter when the mishap took place near the Janla outpost on national highway number 16. He died on the spot.

Mangraj started his career in Odia language daily Khabar Kagaj and later switched over to Odia daily Sambad.

He had written several books including one on the life of legendary leader Biju Patnaik. He was editor of a political newspaper called “Neta” and associated with the various journalist’s organizations.

Several personalities from print and electronic media have condoled the untimely passing away of Mr Mangaraj and expressed their grief to the bereaved family members.

He was a top academician and got three PhDs to his credit.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, National Vice President of BJP, Baijayant Jay Panda and several Odisha ministers have expressed their profound grief at the demise of Mr Mangaraj.

His mortal remains were consigned to flames at Satyanagar crematorium here today.

He is survived by a daughter and a son.
