Will music, multilingualism resolve Indo-China standoff?

New Delhi: Seems China has understood that it is not might, but music and multilingualism that matter most at the end of the day. According to reports, in a bid to “unnerve” Indian soldiers entrenched on the heights in eastern Ladakh, the PLA has taken to loudspeakers to issue “warnings” in chaste Hindi apart from playing Punjabi songs. Reacting to the ‘unique way of rivalry’ on the part of the Chinese troops, a senior Indian army officer said ” Our soldiers, who are used to music, are enjoying it. The PLA is trying to stir disaffection among our soldiers. But, such psychological operations do not trouble our battle-hardened troops.” The Army officer also said, “It is good that the PLA is tracing music. They should not go for any misadventure that will compel them to also face music.” Chinese troops’ love for music, multilingualism came at a time when the two armies are waiting for the sixth round of corps commander-level talks to determine whether the “diplomatic consensus” reached to reduce tensions at the September 10 talks between Foreign Ministers S Jaishankar and Wang Yi actually translate into ground reality.
Political Pandits have maintained that the ‘revelation’ raised the intense border standoff between India and China to a new ‘route’ and creating a newer ‘row.’ Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday made a strong assertion in Parliament that no force in the world can stop Indian soldiers from patrolling the country’s borders in the Ladakh region.
